Hospital Campus Vorarlberg – The interactive health map
How do you make a complex care network tangible for citizens? Together with zeughaus design, we created a digital overview map for the State of Vorarlberg. It not only shows locations but makes the synergies and specialized departments of Vorarlberg's hospitals – from Bregenz to Bludenz – interactively tangible.
Starting Point
The State of Vorarlberg (Health Department) needed a modern solution to present the strategic networking of hospitals and their respective focus areas. The challenge was to bundle an enormous amount of information – specialized departments, emergency care, intensive care units, and cross-location cooperations – clearly and quickly accessible on a map without overwhelming the user.
Our Solution
In close coordination with the design by zeughaus design, we realized a custom frontend application:
Interactive Map: A fluid user interface that allows navigation between locations and immediately filter the respective service spectrums (e.g., 24h emergency care, internal medicine, specialized surgery).
Lean Technology: Implementation as a pure HTML/JS/CSS solution without CMS baggage. This ensures extremely fast loading times, which is particularly crucial for mobile access in information situations.
Information Architecture: Logical linking of the "xsund blieba" initiative with the hard facts of the medical infrastructure.
Result / Added Value
The web app serves as a central information tool for the Vorarlberg population. It creates transparency about regional healthcare and shows at a glance which hospital offers which specializations. For the State of Vorarlberg, the chosen technical implementation means maximum security and minimal maintenance while maintaining the highest performance. A prime example of efficient digital communication in the public sector.
